Adobe Flash Player to Support Smartphones
Adobe Flash Player 10.1 will be the first of its kind to support the full package of Flash services and will come for most of the mobile and desktop OS – Windows Mobile, Palm webOS, Android, Symbian and Blackberry OS, along with the Linux, Mac OS and Windows.
Adobe announced their new Flash Player 10.1, which will be the first consistent runtime release courtesy of the Open Screen Project. That means when you install the player you will be able to use Flash content directly from your OS file manager, web browser and streaming applications. Flash Player 10.1 will also take advantage of media delivery with HTTP streaming (think YouTube), including integration of content protection powered by Adobe Flash Access 2.0. This effort, code-named Zeri, will be an open format based on industry standards and will provide content publishers, distributors and partners the tool they need to utilize HTTP infrastructures for high-quality media delivery in Flash Player 1.01 and Adobe AIR 2.0 software.
The browser-based runtime will allow viewing all the Flash content on the Web, playing streaming videos, interacting with games, banners, ads, etc. Following the new technologies the Flash Player 10.1 will support all popular touch gestures (including multi-touch ones), the accelerometer functions and stylus inputs.
Adobe Flash Player 10.1 will be available for Windows Mobile, Google Android, Palm webOS, Symbian and Blackberry OS plus Windows, Linux and Mac OS. As you may notice iPhone OS is not included, but that’s to be expected.
The first beta versions are expected later this year.
